Our pizzas are made with Laxey Glen flour and topped with as many local ingredients are we can get, including local cheese, meats, veggies and, of course, the famous Manx Queenies (queen scallops). Local offerings are supplemented by Italian tomatoes and mozzarella cheese, and fresh vegetables from further afield, prepared in-house to our own recipes. Nothing processed, no nasties.
At Black Dog Oven, we believe that the best moments in life happen around great food. Our family-run venue brings together handcrafted wood-fired pizzas, refreshing drinks, and live local music to create a relaxed and welcoming place for everyone. Whether you’re joining us for a casual dinner, meeting friends for drinks, or enjoying an evening of live music, we aim to make every visit memorable.
We take bookings only for groups of 6 or more people. We only book a limited number of tables as our table availability varies according to the weather! Contact us via WhatsApp or phone too make a booking
No. We do make our own wheat-free pizza bases in house and we’re told they’re pretty darned good! (though not always round). However due to the wildly floury cooking environment and the shared oven we cannot offer fully gluten-free pizza options that are suitable for people with allergy or Coeliac disease.
Yes! We always have our ‘Green Dog’ vegan pizza option, which varies from week to week. This is a generous veggie topped, no-cheese pizza, often with toasted seeds, nuts or tofu as a protein alternative. In addition we do also keep in a mozzarella-style vegan cheese alternative for people who want a more traditional style pizza but without the dairy.
Yes. Gift vouchers can be purchased at the bar.
Absolutely! We are a dog-friendly venue, assuming your dog is a venue-friendly dog.
Yes! Children are very welcome. We even have board games and kids colouring. But like most bars we will usually ask that kids are out by 9pm, especially if the bar is very busy.
The Black Dog Oven is a single level space so yes, but unfortunately we do not have accessible toilets. This is deeply regrettable and is due to the very limited space. There is an accessible public toilet on the promenade, about 400m away, which is accessed with a radar key
Yes
As a general rule we will not take private bookings on days when we would normally be open to the general public (Thursday-Sunday), however we would be happy to consider opening on the other days for private parties. Email to enquire.
